Sinossi
Das ungeschönte, lebendige Bild einer nicht wiederkehrenden Welt: die Geschichte der Maximiliane von Quindt, 1918 auf Gut Poenichen in Hinterpommern geboren. Der Vater stirbt vor ihrer Taufe, die Mutter verlässt Poenichen. Maximiliane, das Einzelkind, wird von Fräuleins und ihrem Großvater erzogen. Achtzehnjährig heiratet sie Viktor, einen Nazi, der sein Parteibuch schützend über Poenichen hält. Als Maximiliane im Februar 1945 das Gut verlassen muss, nimmt sie ihre vier Kinder mit auf die Flucht. Eine Mutter Courage der Nachkriegszeit macht sich auf den Weg in den Westen. L'autore
Christine Brückner, am 10.12.1921 in einem waldeckischen Pfarrhaus geboren, am 21.12.1996 in Kassel gestorben. Nach Abitur, Kriegseinsatz, Studium, häufigem Berufs- und Ortswechsel wurde sie in Kassel seßhaft. 1954 erhielt sie für ihren ersten Roman einen ersten Preis und war seitdem eine hauptberufliche Schriftstellerin, schrieb Romane, Erzählungen, Kommentare, Essays, Schauspiele, auch Jugend- und Bilderbücher. Von 1980-1984 war sie Vizepräsidentin des deutschen PEN; 1982 wurde sie mit der Goethe-Plakette des Landes Hessen ausgezeichnet, 1990 mit dem Hessischen Verdienstorden, 1991 mit dem Bundesverdienstkreuz 1. Klasse. Christine Brückner war Ehrenbürgerin der Stadt Kassel und stiftete 1984, zusammen mit ihrem Ehemann Otto Heinrich Kühner, den »Kasseler Literaturpreis für grotesken Humor«.
Christine Brückners Gesamtwerk ist im Ullstein Verlag erschienen.
