Sinossi
Nach dem Tod ihrer Eltern soll die kleine Maria bei ihrem einzigen Verwandten Sir Benjamin leben, den sie nicht einmal kennt. Ihre Bedenken lösen sich jedoch in Luft auf, als sie auf Schloss Moonacre eintrifft. Das Anwesen ist wunderschön und mit Sir Benjamin und den anderen seltsamen Schlossbewohnern versteht sie sich sofort. Doch die Idylle trügt: Auf dem Schloss liegt ein böser Fluch aus der Vergangenheit. Und alle scheinen auf mysteriöse Art auf Marias Ankunft gewartet zu haben ...

L'autore
Elizabeth Goudge wurde im Jahr 1900 in Wells (England) geboren. Sie war Kunstgewerbelehrerin, bevor sie sich ganz dem Schreiben widmete. Ihr erster Roman, Inselzauber, erschien 1934. Seither sind ihre märchenhaften Romane in Millionen Exemplaren in der ganzen Welt erschienen und haben viele Fans, u. a. Joanne K. Rowling, gefunden.
