L'autore:
Ambos, Otmar wurde 1929 in Köln als Sohn eines Augsburger Karosseriebaumeisters (Wagenschmiedes) und einer Bonner Bürgerin geboren. Das Elternhaus war katholisch geprägt. Schulbesuch von 1935-1943, im Kriege mehrmalige Ausbombung des Elternhauses. Kaufm. Lehre von 1943-1946, Unterbrechung der Ausbildung durch Schanzeinsatz am Westwall im Herbst 1944, anschliessend Dienst als Flakhelfer bis April 1945 (amerik. Gefangenschaft im Ruhrkessel). Eheschließung Mai 1948, verwitwet seit Sept. 1982, zwei Kinder, mehrere Enkel. Von 1947-1989 als Regierungsangestellter in der Kriegs­opferversorgungsverwaltung des Landes NRW tätig. Zwischendurch Vollstudium der Verwaltungswissenschaften von 1954-1957 in Köln, Diplomabschluß. Von 1970 bis 1980 nebenberuflich tätig als Fachschriftsteller für den Erich Schmidt Verlag, Berlin. 1. Febr. 1990 Verleihung des Bundesverdienstkreuzes am Bande durch den Bundespräsidenten Frh. von Weizsäcker.
