Bob Willoughby (1927-2009) prit sa première photo à l'âge de douze ans. En 1954, il exposa ses portraits de musiciens de jazz et de danseurs, et se vit proposer un contrat avec l'agence Globe Photos, avant de travailler pour Harper's Bazaar. Il immortalisa Judy Garland sur le tournage de Une Étoile est née, et devint le premier photographe de plateau –; engagé par les studios de cinéma pour prendre des " instantanés " à but promotionnel pendant et en marge des tournages. Auteur de nombreux livres sur la photo, il a passé les dernières années de sa vie à Vence, en France, où il est décédé le 18 décembre 2009.
