The Wiener Staatsoper is renowned for presenting the world's best singers every evening. Harmony portrays these vocalists, all 54 members of the Wiener Staatsoper ensemble in the season 2014/2015.The book gives us an idea of how opera really works, describes past and present ensembles and the everyday life of an opera singer. Kammersanger Herwig Pecoraro, tenor and president of the Solistenverband, and photographer Lois Lammerhuber invited the singers to 'portray themselves' without costume or make-up. The artists were to be photographed following their own ideas and wishes, dressed in their own clothes, and set in their favourite spot in the opera house. The result is a collection of very personal photographs.

Kammersänger Herwig Pecoraro was born in Bludenz, studied in Feldkirch, Mantua and Modena and attended master classes with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf. He was a member of the ensembles of the opera Graz and the Volksoper Vienna for several years. Guest performances brought the Austrian tenor i.a. to the Bregenz Festival, the Salzburg Festival, the opera houses of Bern, St. Gallen, Hamburg, Munich, Paris, Nice, Toulouse, Milan, New York and San Francisco as well as to Japan. Herwig Pecoraro is an Austrian Kammersänger and president of the Solistenverband of the Wiener Staatsoper. Dominique Meyer was born in 1955 in Thann, Alsace. He is a leading French economist, manager and cultural advisor. In 2007, he was offered the directorship of the Wiener Staatsoper. He took up office in September 2010. Lois Lamnmerhuber is an internationally renowned photographer. He has received many prizes and has been singled out three times for the Graphis Photo Award for the year's best reportage. Since 1994 he is a member of the Art Directors Club New York. In 2014 he received the Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art, First Class, which is one of the highest decorations issued by the Republic of Austria.
