They include scholarly pieces as well as brief introductions, notes, reviews and comments on a variety of themes such as old Malayalam, art, architecture, music theory and paintings, epigraphical transcripts, granthavari-s and Ayurvedic treatment against snake poison. The principal merit of the articles is their thematic relationship to medieval and early modern history and culture. Though written long ago, the undated nature of their themes makes them relevant to relatively longer periods. Articles dealing with specialised and technical subjects like architecture, music theory and health care belonging to the traditional wisdom contribute to the history of indigenous knowledge system."
