Everything you ever wanted to know about contemporary art but were afraid to ask.
The idea behind this book is that an art which at first sight may appear cryptic and elitist can, in fact, be explained in very simple terms. There is no need for the complex and convoluted jargon of most art - historical and critical texts, and full understanding can be gained by examining individual works and bringing out their personal and social aspects, such as we find also in newspapers and films and in our daily lives. Giorgio Guglielmino takes us on a journey through 66 significant works by as many artists of international fame, ranging from 1970 to 2008. In the process, he describes all the various forms of contemporary art and tells the story of the work of each artist in a simple, straightforward manner.
This book, which was published in Italian in 2000 and republished in 2007, shows how the most recent art - the sort of art that Raphael might produce if he were alive today - can be enjoyed and appreciated to the full by everybody.
