This book analyses and evaluates the development of protestant theological education in Jamaica from 1841 up to 1966. The first part establishes the historical, socio-cultural and mission context in which ministerial training emerged. It outlines the birth and growth of the four denominations that participated in the development of theological education in Jamaica. The second part deals with the history of the colleges of these four denominations: the colleges of the Presbyterian Church (1841-1966), the Baptist Church (1843-1966), the Anglican Church (1858-1966), and the Methodist Church (1875-1966). In 1966, these four colleges were united into the United Theological College of the West Indies. Rev. Edmund Davis lectures at the United Theological College of the West Indies, and serves as rector of St.George's Church, Kingston, Jamaica.
