Bulozi Under the Luyana Kings: Political Evolution and State Formation in Pre-Colonial Zambia - Brossura
Mutumba Mainga married the late Nicholas Theodore Bull in 1965. She was widowed in 2003. Mutumba Mainga Bull holds a BA Hons (History, 1963) and a Ph.D. (History, 1969) from the University of London. She also had a year of postgraduate research at the University of Cambridge.
Dr. Mutumba Mainga Bull lectured at the University of Zambia in History from 1969 to 1973. In 1973, after she successfully contested for a parliamentary seat in Nalolo Constituency in the Western Province (Bulozi), Mutumba Mainga Bull went into national politics. From 1973 to 1991, Dr. Bull held various positions in UNIP and at Cabinet level in the Government of the Republic of Zambia. She left active politics in 1991.
In 1996 Mutumba Mainga Bull rejoined the University of Zambia as a Senior Research Fellow. She was the Director of the Institute of Economic and Social Research, University of Zambia, for three years from 2005 to 2008. Currently she continues at the Institute as a Senior Research Fellow and Coordinator of the Governance Research Programme of the Institute.
