Riassunto: L.A.'S BLACK ELITE, 80'S DECADANCE, LUST, GREED, and GOLD Fabulously wealthy Californian Courtney Hamilton, the great-granddaughter of a black gold miner, is an African American heiress who has it all -- the looks, upbringing, education and enough money -- to get whatever and whoever she wants. But instead of dating the well-groomed society boys who populate her posh life, Courtney falls hard for Richard Thurston, a handsome, edgy charmer from another world -- the gritty streets of South Central L.A. Dead-set against her only daughter's first romance, Courtney's mother uses her power and deceitful nature to make Richard disappear. Crushed by what she thinks was Richard's cruelty, Courtney toughens up and moves on with her life by graduating from USC film school and becoming a Hollywood producer. She soon tackles her dream project: a movie tracing her family history back to African Americans who became rich toiling in the gold mines of 1849 California. But, several unexpected events prevent the film's premiere. In spite of all the twists and turns, deceit and scandal, Courtney finds her passion in life which leads her to true happiness.
