Su questo libro:

Riassunto: Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin heads a community of about a million Muslims settled throughout the world. He is the 52nd incumbent to the office of al-Dai al-Mutlaq established by Fatimi "imams" who ruled over a large part of the Islamic empire in the 10th to 12th centuries CE. He functions as the vicegerent to the "imam", the supreme head of the Shi'a Fatimi Isma ili Tayyibi school of thought of Islam. Much of the imam's reverential position and authority have been instituted into the office of al-Dai al-Mutlaq so that during the seclusion of the imam, as has occurred since the 12th century, the al-Dai al-Mutlaq heads the imam's mission and acts for the imam in leading his followers, the Dawoodi Bohras. As the occupant of this office for over three decades, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin has led a revival in his community by giving vibrant expression to the denomination's devotion to the family of the Prophet Mohammed whilst bringing it closer to its Fatimi roots through an expansive educational and architectural programme.

This book describes elements of this movement and attempts to highlight some of the accomplishments and rare qualities of Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin as the 52nd al-Dai al-Mutlaq. It gives a glimpse of the stature and authority of the office held by him.

From the Publisher: A biographical sketch of the head of the Dawoodi Bohras
Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin is the head of a million-strong community of Dawoodi Bohra Muslims. This book traces his leadership of the community since 1965, highlighting socio-religious impetus that has carefully guided the traditional Muslim community into the contemporary world. It identifies his strategies in strengthening his community's strong religious roots, particularly through a highly successful architectural revival, whilst at the same time embarking on a widespread educational programme. It also gives a glimpse of the hitherto unknown workings of the Bohra community and its renowned business and welfare success. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin is the 52nd occupant to a legendary religious office that is about nine centuries old, tracing itself to Fatimid Egypt. This office is pivotal to the fascinating religious heritage of the Dawoodi Bohras, which the book gives authentic insight to. The book contains over 200 photographs, giving graphic expression to the narrative.
