While Edmund Burke no longer edited the magazine is is presumed that he continued to have a hand in the writing of at least some of the texts. A notice of the burial of Samuel Johnson in Westminster Abbey [209], + works by Voltaire [148], Anna Seward [146-147], Thomas Warton, William Whitehead, James BOSWELL extracts from A Journal of a Tour to the Hebrides [16-18, 107-115], Benjamin Franklin on the Indians of North America [115-118], a memorial of Peter the Wild Boy who had died in February of 1785 [43-45], Pp. 149-163 of this volume have a review of the narrative of Cook's last expedition, A Voyage to the Pacific Ocean). Earlier in this section (at pp. 1-14) various passages are extracted from the narrative to illustrate the "Character of the natives of the Friendly Islands", "the Natives of Otaheite", Captain Cook, and the "Natives of the Sandwich Islands", King George Speech of Nov. 11, 1783 announcing that declarations of peace have been made with the United States of America, France, Spain and that Preliminary Articles have also been ratified with the States General of the United Provinces and notes the cost o9f the wars and that reductions must be made + the replies of the House of Lords and Commons and copies of a number of the ratifications of Peacce [305-322]; and hundreds of other pages both on current affairs and ubjects of scientific interest, etc. Codice inventario libreria 028768

Am Here Books was founded in Vaud, Switzerland in 1971 by Richard Aaron. The bookstore now has some 15,000 first edition poetry books in stock + a large number of books on Japan and Japanese culture, a major collection of 18th century books by and relating to Samuel Johnson & much else. We took a break in 2000 to attend to the description and sale of a number of archives but now are back to running our bookstore. Visitors are welcome by appointment. We accept PayPal. Telephone calls are answered between 8 A.M. - 6 P.M. Monday through Saturday. We check our answering machine once a day and will return all calls within 24 hours.
