Descrizione libro State of New York, Albany, NY, 1907. Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. First Edition. 418 pp., 4to. 26 full-color, plates. Front cover and spine have fairly bright, blind-stamped gilt lettering and rules. Spine ends and corners are bumped, rubbed and worn. Edges are soiled and foxed. Floral eps. Small, rubber stamped(?) block, in blue ink, on fly leaf reads, "Compliments of William M. Bennett, Member of Assembly." Text, consisting of reports from various Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners, is enlivened by over 100 detailed, b/w, many full-page, illustrations by Hy S. Watson. These illustrations would seem more suited to a work of fiction, or a hunting and fishing periodical of the day, than to this publication. They almost appear to tell a story. There is a very minor water stain along the upper edge of the first few pages that does affect the margin of the first b/w illustration. In addition, there are 26 full color, full page plates. Twenty-four plates depict various fish. The other two are of a ruffed grouse and beaver. The beaver plate is by Ernest Thompson Seton. There are numerous black & white photos scattered throughout the text as well. At the rear of the volume is a fold-out, colored map entitled "The Adirondack Wilderness of Northern New York Showing Distributution of Beaver in 1908 as compared with Distribution in 1900." This is interesting considering that this volume was supposedly printed in 1907 and the map shows beaver distributution in 1908! Interior is slightly aged and, occasionally, very slightly foxed or soiled. Codice articolo 4333
