Mackintosh writes from Clapham Common, June 23, (1828). Tries to arrange a meeting with a friend. "While I had a house in Wimpole Street I often rode in Regent Park. Since my return here, it would be rather too great a distance. I do not know where I could conveniently meet you. I shall be at Holland House, Sunday, Monday & Tuesday, where I shall be more accessible to you. If you tell me, by Post, when youÕd come I shall immediately answer you to say when IÕd be a home. Yrs truly, J. Mackinoths.". SIR JAMES MACKINTOSH (1765-1832). Scottish philosopher, historian. Member of Parliament (1813). Recorder of Bombay (1806-11). Commissioner of Board of Control for India (1830). Professor of Law at Haileybury College (1818-24). Author of "Dissertation on the Progress of Ethical Philosophy", "History of the Revolution in England in 1688", etc. Very slightly soiled.
