Riassunto: Poetry. The cover of this elegant collection is an impressive full-color photo, Ocean, by Dan Torop. A short fuse on a long afternoon/ twinges for concentrate/ as silent upholstery after illusion (Personal Life). We have waited a long time for a new collection of poems by Alan Bernheimer. Now, holding this utterly wonderful book in my hands, I can't help but think about that long time, the years of living. The vivacity of Bernheimer's earliest work -- his capacity for setting spirals of verbal witticism into motion and for executing wry dances of intelligence across contemporary landscape -- is still dazzling.... This only looks like a small book; in it, you will read major work. -- Lyn Hejinian. Saddlestapled chapbook.
L'autore: Born and raised in New York City, Alan Bernheimer graduated in 1970 from Yale University, where he studied with New York poets Ted Berrigan, Peter Schjeldahl, and Bill Berkson. In 1976 he moved to San Francisco and spent time with other young writers such as Rae Armantrout, Carla Harryman, Lyn Hejinian, Bob Perelman, Kit Robinson, Ron Silliman, and Barrett Watten--a group who would soon become known as the San Francisco Language poets. Bernheimer also wrote and performed for Poets Theater and produced and hosted In the American Tree, a radio program of new writing by poets on KPFA.
