Riassunto: Set against the backdrop of World War II, the novel begins in a most troublesome period of human history, where subjugated by the might of Nazi Germany, two women meet under extraordinary circumstances. This is the story of Eva Muller, the daughter of a German major in command of the occupying force in Larissa, Greece in 1944. Through the intervention of the village priest she meets Zoe Lambros, a young Greek woman with vengeance in her heart and a faith in God that has been shattered by the death of her family. They develop a friendship borne out of this dark time.
L'autore: Mary D. Brooks - aka MaryD - is a long time bookworm. During her childhood, it was never hard to guess her whereabouts; if she wasn't in her room putting pen to paper (long before computers made life much easier for writers), she was in the local library sitting in a big comfy chair and taking in the power of the written word. She lives in sunny Australia with her pet cat and the many lizards and dead orchard-leaves her feline boss brings home. She loves to read (naturally), is an artist, enjoys dabbling in web site design and runs a few sites when she's not working. Mary cut her teeth as a writer at the tender age of 8, writing scripts for TV shows that she watched. At the age of 11, a revelation occurred; this was what she wanted to do with her life, to become a writer. Alas, fate directed her to other things but now she's back on track.
