Riassunto: This engrossing history tells the story of the first hundred years of Brooklyn Law School – a unique institution. From its modest beginnings in 1901 in the basement of a brownstone building, Brooklyn Law School has evolved into a school of national repute. The First Hundred Years is the story of the deans, faculty and thousands of students who shaped and were shaped by this distinctive institution. Two World Wars, the Great Depression, Vietnam-era unrest, and the emergence of a global, high-tech economy form the historical backdrop of this lively institutional portrait. Using archival materials and photographs, noted historian Jeffrey B. Morris paints a vivid picture of a law school ahead of its time, one committed to the principle that a legal education should be available to all – including immigrants, minorities and women – with the intellect and tenacity to pursue a career in the law. As Brooklyn Law School begins its second century, this work will be of great interest to historians, alumni, students, faculty and friends of Brooklyn Law School.
