Riguardo questo articolo

SALESMAN'S SAMPLE. Hardcover in red cloth decorated in gilt and black. B/w illustrations (sketches). As usual, samples of two other available bindings are pasted to the front endpaper. Looks as though there was one more on the rear endpaper, judging from the offsetting to the facing page, but it is no longer there. All endpapers darkened, with a bit of the red dye from the leather example in the front bleeding onto the front free endpaper, as well. Pages age-toned. Light creasing to first few leaves. White spot on frontispiece. Covers HEAVILY stained, and moderately worn. I see from the order forms in the back that the salesman sold six copies! (Usually, with these, the order forms are all blank.) The actual book, in its entirety, contained "How they lived and talked, and what they did and suffered, while fighting for the flag" (during the Civil War). And the author was "Late Lieutenant-Colonel Sxty-fifth Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry." And the actual book contained 193 original illustrations drawn by George Y. Coffin.
