L'autore: A native of Alabama, Tony Thornton received his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and Voice from Westminster Choir College and a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from Louisiana State University. Thornton has studied conducting with Joseph Flummerfelt, Frauke Haasemann, Margaret Hillis, Kenneth Fulton, Donald Neuen, and Bruce Chamberlain. He sang for eight years as a member of the Grammy Award-winning Robert Shaw Festival Singers and has performed extensively as a guest soloist. For seven years, Thornton served as the Artistic Director of West Coast Singers, is the Founding Artistic Director of Los Angeles Choral Artists, and currently conducts the Tucson Masterworks Chorale. He has been a guest lecturer of music at UCLA, Pomona College, Los Angeles City College, and CSU-Pomona. He is frequently invited to conduct choral workshops and masterclasses with singers throughout the country. Thornton is currently pursuing doctoral studies in choral conducting and musicology at the University of Arizona.
