This tale of whimsy woven with truths was written years ago for Lee's then granbabies and is dedicate to them and to all curious chldren everywhere…

Living today on Martha's Vineyard - an island off the south coast of Massachusetts - Lee DeVitt fondly recalls many years in the midwest attending high school in Elmhurst, Illinois, college at Carleton in Northfield ,Minnesota, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a Natural History major and then teaching high school Biology in Janesville, Wisconsin.

Mother of three, she has always loved beach combing since living on the very beach edge near Tillamook. Oregon and the Whitstable-Tankerton area of Kent, England. A strong conservationist she enjoys all the many aspects of the wonderful natural world.

Chris Millis is an award-winning novelist and cartoonist. The Washington Post has called his illustrations "zany" and Metroland Magazine wrote that his work "... emulate(s) the offbeat children's books of Shel Silverstien and the wry comic tomes of James Thurber."

Millis lives in Saratoga Springs,NY with his wife Lisa and dog, Jameson.
