Descrizione libro University of Stellenbosch. Softcover/Paperback. Condizione libro: New. The Index of the Minuses of the Septuagint enumerates and analyzes those elements of the MT not represented in the Septuagintâ€"the minuses of the LXX. Biblical scholarship is not served by merely stating the fact that a certain word, phrase or clause is not represented in the LXX. Since the LXX is a translation rather than a direct witness to the text, lack of representation poses a serious dilemma. Which level of the transmission process is involved? Does the lack of representation pertain to the Greek version with the translator skipping words actually found in a Hebrew parent text identical with the MT? Or does the translation faithfully reflect the Hebrew source text that is were the words not represented in the LXX actually not extant in the Hebrew text used by the translator? The Index of the Minuses of the Septuagint provides a comprehensive overview of the data in order to contribute to (a) the elucidation of aspects of translation technique, and (b) the clarification of issues concerning the growth and transmission of the Hebrew Bible. The entries, in Greek and in Hebrew, are grouped according to grammatical, syntactical, and stylistic classification. This classification also supplies the data for a statistical survey of the minuses for each book. The Introduction explains the methods of classification and notation, and offers a statistical summary of the diverse categories in the books of the Pentateuch. Codice libro della libreria POL2CLASS
