About the Author: Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924) was, famously, the 28th President of the United States, a wartime Commander-in-Chief, and winner of the 1919 Nobel Peace Prize. Before, he was president of Princeton University and the governor of New Jersey. Less famously, earlier still, he was a practicing lawyer, an accomplished professor of political science and jurisprudence, and a prolific scholar and popular author. His books on civics, U.S. history, and presidential biography are classroom and historical classics.

Descrizione libro Peter Smith:, 1973. Hard Cover. Condizione libro: Fine-. This book is a reprinting of the edition published in 1956 by World Publishing Co., 222 pages, Introduced by Walter Lippman. "Woodrow Wilson wrote this book in 1883 and 1884. When he reread it in 1900 (in order to do a preface to the fifteenth printing), he had such serious misgivings about it that he warned his readers new developments "may put this whole volume hopelessly out of date. Soon thereafter he thought they had, and in 1908 he wrote another book, his constitutional Government In The United States, to supersede it. In this second book are the main ideas which Wilson took with him to the White house in 1912. The basic difference between the first and second is the conception of the power of the President."
