SUBTITLED : ` A Story of Group Psychotherapy '. Spotnitz is a psychiatrist and in these 276 pages he walks us through the characteristics that make paatients good candidates for one-on-one therapy sessions or the group therapy session. He cites St. Elizabeth's Hospital - 1918 - as the earliest reported use of group therapy; this was with war veterans. He further explores individual behaviors as seen in his practice and how they are aided by the presence of others in analytical sessions. For insight into: rage, jealousy, promiscuity, resentment, depression, fear, abandonment, etc. - read on. UNillustrated. My two biggest discoveries in his notes were : Negative Transference and the Phantom Figure. Cond ; Boards are burgundy with gilt lettering - spine only. End-papers are white (ivory). D.J. is brown with white lettering. D.J. graphic consists of one high-lighted circle but shows many many others interlaced with it. D.J. (now protected in mylar) has not been price clipped but does have noticeable wear at corners. Two previous owners have signed the front pastedown. Volume is square, tight, bright, and clean. No marks, no tears. A very attractive copy !! Collectible ! Giftable history to the neighbourhood psychiatrist !! Quote (p. 88) : ' The most obvious of these is the sharing of time and attention with other patients. The privilege of talking has to be paid for with courteous listening.
