Brown endpapers, weak front board seams on both copies (more first) that is typical of this publication. Rear boards have special protective pockets containing 3 maps: "A Map of the Great Forest Region Showing the Routes of the Emin Pasha Relief Expedition", "A Map of Emin Pasha's Province", "A Map of the Route of the Emin Pasha Relief Expedition Through Africa". Steel plate frontis's (Stanley 1886 & 1890) in each volume respectively. Numerous illustrations throughout both volumes. Internally the books are FINE in text, images and binding. Boards show mild lightening on high points only. Gilt titling is bright on both volumes. A very nice quality set. po name neatly on second free endpapers.
