A wonderful and scarce original manual of the revived Tippecanoe Club of Chicago. Originally organized in 1840 as a Whig Party group to promote the election of William Henry Harrison as president of the US, it was re-organized in 1888 by Republicans to promote his grandson, Benjamin Harrison to the presidency, with 16 of the original members meeting at the Grand Pacific Hotel. The Tippecanoe Club was a significant force in Republican politics through the 1890's and into the early 1900's. Organizational minutes, bylaws, profiles of Benjamin Harrison and his running mate Levi Morton, photographs, and biographical sketches of scores of the members, a veritable who's who of Chicago.
