The Captain's Bookshelf is a secondhand and rare bookstore established in Asheville, N.C. in 1976. Our inventory includes trade paperbacks, hardcover books, and collectible editions and all books are individually selected with attention to condition as well as content. We specialize in books on the liberal arts and regional books. Bookstore hours are 10:00am until 6:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday, and by appointment.

All books are offered subject to prior sale and must be prepaid unless credit has been established. Books may be returned within 10 days of purchase with prior request. Returned books must be in the same condition as originally described upon their return receipt. Overseas orders are shipped USPS Priority Flat Rate when possible and at cost. The shipping cost for shipments within the United States is based on books weighing 2.2 Lbs. and shipped via USPS Media Mail, though other shipping methods may be requested. If a book order is heavy or oversized, you may be contacted about extra shipping charges. We attempt to ship abroad by the most economical method, usually USPS priority flat rates if possible; any additional shipping charges we request are at cost.
