1st edition, this hardback edition limited to 550 copies, very fine condition, with a very fine dust jacket, published by Back Door Publishing, Barstow, 607 pages. The Roaring Twenties, Prohibition and California, the making and selling of illegal booze in California, as well as in the rest of the United States, a law that was considered by most California's, and the rest of the Nation, as both ridiculous and hilarious. The population that was to follow this law, had Red Eyes from overindulgence, the law Enforcement Agencies that were to enforce this law, had their Eyes Closed, and pockets full of Cash. This is a comprehensive look at bootlegging, rumrunning, moonshining, the corrupting of politicians and law enforcement, and the resulting crimes of murder and prostitution as seen in California. The same could be said for the rest of the United States! As one bootlegger had said "Selling whiskey was no crime, it just happened to be against the law". Profusely illustrated with over one hundred photographs, many never before in print. With a Prohibition Chronology, a Glossary of Boolegging Terminology, Aliases of Individuals, the Corrupting of Public Officials, an extensive notes section, and an extensive bibliography of source material. Also included is the Errata slip, and a full color promotional postcard. Signed and dated presentation by the author. Quite scarce in this limited hardback edition, and more in this nice condition, and signed by the author! A fascinating read about a fascinating era!. Codice inventario libreria 003380
