THERE IS AN ILLUSTRATION OF A YOUNG GIRL BEHIND BARS WITH A MAN LURKING IN THE BACKGROUND . THE TITLE ON THE COVER IS " WHITE SLAVERY HORRORS OF THE TRAFFIC." "THE GREATEST CRIME IN THE WORLD'S HISTORY." THERE ARE TEN B/W ILLUSTRATIONS AND 27 PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE CHICAGO VICE DISTRICTS WITH SCENES OF THE STREETS AND HOUSES OF ILL REPUTE IN CHICAGO, THE MADAMS OF THE HOUSES AND, A PROSTITUTE AND HER FATE ARE PORTRAYED, THIS PAPER COVERED BOOKLET IS AN EXPURGERATED VERSION OF THE ORIGINAL HARD COVER BOOK PUBLISHED IN 1910. THE BOOKLETS WERE SOLD ON NEWSTANDS AND ESPECIALLY AT TRAIN STATIONS WHERE TRAVERLS COULD BUY AND DISCARD THEM RATHER THAN TAKE THEM HOME TO THEIR PARENTS OR SPOUSES. THUS, THE BOOKLET FORMS OF THIS EXPOSE ON PROSTITUTION IN CHICAGO ARE UNCOMMONLY FOUND TODAY COMPARED TO THE HARD BOUND BOOKS THAT HAVE SURVIVED NEARLY 100 YEARS.
