This proceedings, ""Filtration and Drainage in Geotechnical/Geoenvironmental Engineering"", is a collection of papers presented at the sessions sponsored by the Geo-Institute in conjunction with the ASCE Annual Convention held in Boston, Massachusetts, October 18-21, 1998. The papers address diverse topics related to soil and geotextile filter design and performance. The problem of filtration and drainage has assumed a broader connotation in the context of geoenvironmental engineering. Recent studies focused on soil/geotextile filter clogging due to fine particle transport and the associated physicochemical and biological mechanisms, in addition to the conventional issues of base soil and filter stability.
