Riguardo questo articolo

London: Benjamin Fisher, 1635. Hardback. A very good, complete third edition of Camden's four-part biography of Elizabeth I, 486 pp, plus a 16-page table index. The book was originally published in Latin in 1615 and translated into English by Robert Norton. This copy is in the original calf binding with the name of the author and title stamped and readable in an inlay on the spine together with five raised bands. Most of the gilt is worn off. The book, 11" X 7 1/2", is square and tight with a slight parting of 2" to the front hinge, some edgewear to the extremities and a little loss of material to the top of the spine. While the covers are well-rubbed, the book is in remarkably good shape for its age. The text is unmarked and readable throughout although there is staining at the bottom right corner of many pages, not affecting the text. Camden was associated with Elizabeth's Court and an intimate of the great minister Lord Burghley and others who provided him with much of his material. Camden's narrative, covering by year Elizabeth's 31-year reign, is considered critical source material about the political, economic and social world of the last Tudor, conveyed in a plain and lucid style.
