Riassunto: Abraham Rosen (1916-1983) was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and spent the early years of his life in a small rural town in the Western Transvaal where his father had a business. Later, when the Rosen family moved to Johannesburg, Abe became deeply involved in the Zionist Movement. He served as Youth Leader for the Zionist Federation after World War II and as chairman of the Zionist Youth Council of Johannesburg. During the Israeli War of Independence he served as Secretary of the League for Hagannah, helping to fund the war effort and to organize and send aid, ammunition and soldiers to Palestine. Abe was also a writer and journalist. He was editor of the Zionist Mirror and contributor to many South African Jewish publications. Many of his short stories dealt with early Jewish immigration to South Africa and reflect his experience growing up in rural South Africa. He was an avid student of Jewish history, and published numerous articles on Biblical history, as well as a series of articles on Jewish history in Afrikaans. He also wrote many children's stories.
