Riassunto: Some people have stopped smoking after reading this book. That is the most important thing for you to know about Kick Butts, Take Names.
There are many other things we could say about Kick Butts, Take Names: it's a book, it's an attitude, it's a movement, it's a great title, and it's all about freedom.
The most important thing we can tell you about this book is that some people have stopped smoking after reading it. Readers have also said that they never saw smoking or tobacco the same way again after reading this book.
Incidentally, readers have also made other remarkable life changes after reading this book, like picking up a guitar for the first time in years and cutting a CD; like gutting a storage room in their home and turning it into an artist studio; like trying the EFT sequence recommended in this book and finding it not only helped them get free, it also helped to alleviate their chronic pain, or claustrophobia. One reader said that she found herself listening more fully to her teenage daughter after reading this book. Another reader said that he laughed and cried while reading this book, in the same chapter.
Kick Butts, Take Names is not just about tobacco, or freedom from it. It is about freedom in general, and ways to get free, and freer. Part-how-to, part reframing and renaming of things you may have taken for granted for a long time.
People who have never smoked also say this book helped them stand in the shoes of those who do. They felt more empathy. They felt less inclined to stand in judgment, more inclined and able to connect in ways that could actually make a difference.
If you don't want to buy this book, request it at your library; they may have a bigger budget than you do. Chances are you will want your own copy, though; it's just that good.
Kick Butts, Take Names: It's All About Freedom.
From the Author:
I smoked for over twenty years, starting at age twelve. I have now been tobacco-free for as many years as I smoked. I cannot tell you how good it feels; I want you to find out for yourself.
I've also done counseling for as many years, and across many settings: healthcare, military, corrections, psychiatric, domestic violence, drug rehab, employee assistance programs, couples counseling, and in educational settings including independent school and community colleges. I have talked with more buttheads and buttkickers than I can even count; thousands of tobacco users.
I have learned a thing or two about tobacco through these collective experiences, why it is so powerful, and why we choose it over our health and wealth. I have learned a lot about freedom from it.
Over the years since I stopped smoking, I have grown less fond of the label "addict" - it seems too limiting somehow, especially when it comes to tobacco. I now prefer to refer to it as having had a relationship with tobacco, a long-term relationship that began stealing my health and wealth from the moment I opened my mouth and said, "C'mon in."
I also do not say I "quit" smoking. I am not a quitter; I am a Buttkicker. This attitude permeates all I do, especially in the name of our collective freedom. This attitude permeates Kick Butts, Take Names. I hope you'll love reading it, and I hope you'll love yourself more deeply and fully after reading it. There are no scary pictures in my book; nothing to scare or shame you into freedom. I don't want you to scare yourself free; I want you to love yourself free.
The Take Names part is about not doing it alone, even if you can do it alone. It's about taking the names of great teachers who can help you kick whatever it is that needs releasing in your life. Take Names is also about taking friends along for the ride. Then, when you get to where you're going, you have lots of people to party with when you arrive. Who wants to party alone? Take Names.
Every smoker is a buttkicker, because every one of us has some desire to get free, and every buttkicker gets free someday. The trick is to do it while we still have the body to celebrate in.
