Riassunto: Prayer is our lifeline to God—
a personal connection to the powers of heaven.
Author Jerri A. Harwell has experienced such a spiritual connection in her life. In this inspiring and entertaining book, Jerri shares how her experiences with prayer have guided her through challenges and down unexpected paths.
These experiences with prayer have led to blessings she couldn’t have imagined. You will feel uplifted as Jerri tells about:
• Her conversion story as a college student in Rochester, Michigan in 1977
• Her jubilation at hearing the LDS Church’s announcement that all worthy men could hold the priesthood
• The unusual connection between her family history and her LDS mission to Houston, Texas
• The unique circumstances that led to her marriage to her husband Don
• Their service together in the LDS Church’s Genesis Group for Black members
About the Author: Jerri A. Harwell was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She has her own business, EDIT-WELL, and is a freelance writer and editor. This is her first full length book. She is also adjunct faculty/instructor at Salt Lake Community College where she teaches developmental writing. In addition, Jerri does a one woman portrayal of Jane Elizabeth Manning James, an early Black Mormon pioneer at This Is the Place Heritage State Park in Salt Lake City, Utah. Jerri also wrote the script for her portrayal.
She and her husband, Donald L. Harwell, have been married seventeen years. They have six children, four of whom are still at home. Don serves as President of The Genesis Group, which is the LDS Church’s official auxiliary for Black Latter-day Saints, organized in 1971; in addition he serves on his Stake High Council for the Midvale Utah Union Fort Stake.
Jerri has served as the Senior Editor for The Genesis Group’s newsletter, which serves as communication tool for African-American members of the Church around the world. She has served in two Relief Society Presidencies; taught in Relief Society, Sunday School, and Primary; and held numerous other callings in the LDS Church. She often accepts speaking assignments for firesides, sacrament meetings, symposiums, conferences, and conventions. In 2004, she was a presenter at BYU’s Women’s Conference speaking about prayer.
