Brand New, Unread Copy in Perfect Condition. A+ Customer Service! Summary: 90 fly patterns that will work east and west plus details on insects and the patterns developed to imitate them Photos by Bonnie and Ren Harrop, Toshi Karita, Rich Paini, Masa Katsumata Original artwork by Ren Harrop "In a lifetime nearing seven decades, I have devoted the vast majority of my time probing the mysteries of legendary waters like the Yellowstone, Firehole, Madison, Snake, and the Henry's Fork. Numerous lesser known rivers and lakes have cooled my legs but not my enthusiasm as I roam this region with a constant spirit of anticipation and discovery. In a single lifetime, it would be impossible to fish all the water in and near the park, and a close relationship with even a handful is a significant accomplishment." --Ren Harrop, Learning from the Water Ren Harrop records lessons learned from years fishing the world's toughest trout water. His home water, the Henry's Fork, is one of the most challenging spring creeks in the world, and over his lifetime fishing the Henry's Fork, he has developed legendary techniques and flies to meet the challenge. In Learning from the Water, Ren shares his wisdom on the importance of insect stages, the flies for a successful fly box, and how to plan and prepare for a trip to unfamiliar water. Chapters on midges, caddis, Flavs, Callibaetis, Tricos, PMDs, hoppers, beetles, aquatic wasps, and Baetis give solid inside information on each of these important insects as well as the patterns Ren uses to imitate them, patterns that inspire fly tiers the world over. Descrizione libro Stackpole Books. Mechanicsburg, PA. 2010 1st edition. 4to (222 x 285mm). Ppx,213,ill. Colour plates of flies, colour photographs & paintings throughout. Blue-green boards, spine titled in gilt. Unobtrusively bumped else clean. Good-plus in dust-wrapper. "Fishing tactics and fly designs for the toughest trout". Rene Harrop shares many years' experience of fishing and fly-tying. Chapters include; learning from the water; the art of deception; a working fly box; fishing the clock; into the mesh; a long leader; fishing on the edge; selective nymphing; the value of versatility - eight flies for Yellowstone Country; alesson in humility; the formula for success; men of the water; emergence; midging from top to bottom; caddis system; hoppers - large and small; beetles - plan B; aquatic wasps - a mystery; flavs - the little drakes of summer; Callibaetis - the speckled mayfly of quiet water; tricos - a lesson in thinking small; pale morning duns; Baetis - last chance. Soundly reasoned good advice, with many excellent, explanatory pictures. "Attention to detail is what the best of fishing is about, and Rene Harrop gives us detail by the lorry load. For that reason alone this is not a bookthat requires cover-to-cover reading. Any chapter will suffice to sate the most needy of appetites, such is the intensity of information. It matters not that this is a water specific work - the Henry's Fork, the approach is such that situations are relative, and it could be your river or stream. Okay, so some of the flies described do not directly relate to our fishing in this country, but the approach cannot be faulted, in fact, it is faultless. Tactics can be related, and in this Rene Harrop is a supreme practitioner. I cannot recommend this book more highly". (Terry Griffiths in Flydresser). Codice libro della libreria 44922
