Riassunto: In September 2004 I went to Iraq as a civilian contractor, the book consists of the letters back home to my wife, my kids and my family and friends. Started out to only 10 or 11 people, ended up going to 70+ people and 2 newspapers in the southern United States. The book is a tribute to, and in respect of, the United States military with whom we worked, and the people with whom I worked as a civilian contractor. Some of the finest people I have ever met in my life. Coming home again in September 2005 I felt as though I had something which had mattered, and I was comfortable with what I had done. The author is a United States military veteran, having served three years in the Army from September 1970 through September 1973. Although in the midst of the Vietnam War at the time, the author did not get to Vietnam. Tried to go every time there was another push, but was kept in the States as an instructor. This trip he made to Iraq for a year's service was out of respect for three friends he lost in the Vietnam War. The year tour in Iraq repaid the debt he owed to his friends who went to Vietnam without him, and didn't return. It was a thrill, after 35 years, to be once again associated with the military, even though he worked a civilian position. He tried to convey his feelings of patriotism, loyalty, and respect for the military through his letters home to his family and friends.
