Riassunto: Light and Matter: Photographs and Poems of Iowa by Paul Brooke. Poems and 40 color photographs by the author. This extraordinary pairing of poetry and photography by Paul Brooke is a celebration of a naturalist's visual and poetic images sourced from a life-long tie to the nature of Iowa. Light and Matter is Brooke's first collection of poetry and photography; his work has been published internationally in Ireland, Germany, New Zealand and England, as well as in numerous U.S. journals and reviews. His photography has been exhibited in Des Moines, Iowa City, and Sanibel Island, Florida. His earlier book, Strings: Two Yakima Indian Women in the 1800s, contained his 1999 Iowa Prize for Poetry poem, Cree Women Cleaning Fish. He is an Associate Professor of English and Chair of the Humanities Division at Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa.
