Riassunto: The Little Big Hill is a story about the Vietnam war, told from the perspective of the soldier on the ground. It is Christmas 1971, at Bien Hoa, a large rear-area base near Saigon. The war is winding down; in Paris, American and North Vietnamese negotiators are dicussing peace; in the U.S., President Nixon is starting his re-election campaign. But at Bien Hoa, even though the traditional three-day Christmas cease fire has been announced, survival is the foremost concern of the newly- arrived commanding general of the historically famous 1st Cavalry Division, the military unit of Generals Custer and MacArthur. The base is a strategic target for the Viet Cong, who might try to destroy a barracks full of soldiers or a vast store of munitions and equipment.

L'autore: Robb Lucas was drafted in 1967 after 2-plus years of college, and served at Bien Hoa with the 1st Cavalry Division in 1968-69. In September '69, his attempt to finish college failed, and from there he washed cars, nailed shingles, and finished the year working for the Vietnam Moratorium Committee. In later years, he was an assistant golf pro and a retail store manager. The Little Big Hill was written in 1975, following the death of a close friend, then re-written and copyrighted in 1990. In the 1990's the author sold freelance writing, mostly outdoor pieces and a few trade articles, until the urge to write full-time overwhelmed him. A percentage from the sale of this book will be donated by the author for the further study of the phenomenon know as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
