Summary: The autobiography by the husband of a brain cancer patient who has become his wife's full time caregiver. The book includes references to doctors, treatments, friendship, family, sex, politics, religion, the meaning of marriage and the Grateful Dead. The book also includes a new section, The Tenth Year detailing the continuing story and updating Debbie's journey. Here's all Kindle reviews as of March 18, 2012.5 stars Dawn K LewisThis book was so captivating that I finished it in a day. I could not put it down. Having been a caregiver, it helped to read someone else's account of the day to day struggles one goes through and the love story contained within the autobiography is one of true dedication and commitment. 5 stars Thomas T. GrantI read this with tears in my eyes time and time again, both from laughing and crying. I felt like a welcome house guest, but powerless to be helpful with their situation yet joyful to be along for the ride. A wonderful and devastating account of life through it's highest highs and lowest lows. Way beyond worth it!5 stars annajjj I finished this book with tears in my eyes and knowing I will reread this book and keep Jeff and Debbie in my thoughts for years to come. What a wonderful inspirational story of love, loyalty and determination. It was also particularly interesting, as an Australian who enjoys an amazingly supportive medical system, to read about the challenges faced by Americans going through situations that require ongoing medical support. It made me feel incredibly grateful for our system.5 stars AHBJeff writes of the nine long years that he and his wife, Debbie, have survived her brain cancer. The book is both touching and informative. The perserverance they both have shown is remarkable, and an inspiration for anyone going through a similar situation. It also served as a reminder to me to appreciate each effortless step I take. Mr. Block's book reads easily, though clearly describing an incredibly difficult journey.5 stars tbottThis book truly moved me on several occasions. I enjoyed the way the piece jumps from the present to the past in different chapters. A true account of true love, and devotion above and beyond.5 stars RosaSharonI agree with all that the other reviewers have said. These two young people have had more than their share of trials. I hope that Mr. Block continues writing- either fiction or non-fiction as I think that he is very skilled with words.I sincerely give this book five stars for the book touched my heart, and for me, that is why I read.5 stars MZThis book had the best first chapter I have ever read. I felt as if I was sitting in the kitchen with Jeff as he sits at the keyboard, coffee cup in hand, trying to be as quiet as possible so as not to disturb Debbie.periodically listening for her breathing. A truly compelling and moving story. I actually went back to re-read the first chapter after I finished the book. Who does that? This is truly one of the best things I have read in a long time.5 stars Brenda ReeceThis is a poignant and personal story told by a devoted husband who put his life on hold to care for his loving wife. Jeff was in his forties when he learned that the love of his life, Debbie, had brain cancer. The book's title, "Nine Years After", makes reference to the time period between his wife's diagnosis and the time he began writing about it. In this powerful and inspirational book, Jeff chronicles his typical days as a caregiver while sharing his inner most thoughts and feelings with us. This truly is a must read book.4.0 stars Penelope SebastianRead it in one afternoon and was amazed at how easily it read. Thank you, Mr Block, for sharing your experiences. L'autore: The author was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. where he played sports in the street while dodging moving vehicles. He traveled with his first wife to the Blue Ridge of North Carolina and remained in the mountains upon her return north. The author met his second wife Debbie while on Grateful Dead tour and they were married in 1996. The author still lives with Debbie despite her being a brain cancer patient for the last ten years. He enjoys most music, walks through the outdoors, baseball, the pristine quiet of a snowy day in the mountains and a cold beer on sultry summer evenings. Jeff Block has also released a full length novel entitled 'God Knows What'. Kindly search for it too on both Amazon or Kindle.
