Volume II, Part II: xxii, (ii), [391]-844; 3 large fold-out maps. 6 folded maps in all. Original green cloth, paper labels to spine. Wear to heads and tails of spines. Labels scuffed and rubbed; cloth a little marked and splashed, rubbed to corners. Early owner's name and date (1869) on printed ticket to front pastedowns. Light spotting to prelims and extrems, including spotting to maps, with some closed tears to maps. Some pages unopened. O/w contents clean and bright. Binding firm and square. Volume II, Part I with a slip inserted pointing out that 'Some of the Names of Places in the Maps are unavoidably left out, but will be supplied when the Second Part of this volume is completed, when other Impressions will be given'. With half-titles and an index of parishes in each volume. Includes bibliographical references and indexes. Title page printed in red and black. Descrizione libro W. H. Lizars 1851-1855, Edinburgh, 1851. Hardcover. Condizione libro: Fair. Condizione sovraccoperta: No Dust Jacket. Gift inscription of "David Laing Esq LLD 1860". Xliii, 532, map + xx, 390, 2 maps + xxii, 391-846 pp, 3 maps. In fair condition, ex-lib with all normal marks, dark green original cloth which is faded, each volume has green library tape on spines, the two vol. II still have the original spine label which is chipped and worn. The set has all six maps, the map in Vol. I has a short tear at the joint, the 1st map in Vol II Part I has a long horizontal clean tear. There is minor pencil marginalia in each volume, many pages never separated, in Vol. II part II there are tear at the top edge at the beginning where someone tried inexpertly to separate, pg 393-396 have a long clean tear from the top edge. Vol. II, Part II has some cracking at the hinges and the most wear, in general. The gift inscription -- to a Presbyterian college in Canada -- appears to be that of the noted Edinburgh antiquarian David Laird (1793 – 1878). Whether it is his inscription or that of the receiving college librarian, we can't say. Vol. I. Diocese of Glasgow. --vol. II, pt. 1. Diocese of Argyle. Diocese of the Isles. --vol. II, pt. 2.
