Titolo: THE PILGRIMAGE OF TEMPERANCE MACK
Casa editrice: Mount Pleasant, MI: John and Audrey Cumming, 1967.
Data di pubblicazione: 1967
Edizione: 1st Edition
72 pp. Hand-set in 10 and 12-point Goudy Roman and printed in a limited edition by John Cumming of Mount Pleasant, Michigan. VG+/NONE - as issued. Decorative green cloth, black back strip with gold lettering. The letters of Temperance Mack and her daughter Almira Covey preserve a valuable picture of the religious enthusiasm of the early Mormons and of the many struggles which they survived. Adding to the importance of these letters is the relationship between the writers and Joseph Smith. Temperance Mack was his aunt; and it was Joseph's own mother who converted her. A minimum amount of supplementary information has been supplied for background and for transition. Where the letters have been quoted, the original spelling has been maintained. No attempt has been made to read deeper meaning into the letters or to interpret subconscious or ulterior motives. The story has been presented here as a simple tale of faith and courage.
