THIS BOOK IS LISTED IN THE 1938 AMERICAN IMPRINTS INVENTORY OF CHICAGO ANTE-FIRE IMPRINTS AS #1583. THREE SITES ARE LOCATED, ONE OF WHICH IS THE DICKE COLLECTION AND THAT IS THIS COPY. THE IMMIGRANT GERMAN POPULATION IN CHICAGO AT THE TIME WAS VERY LARGE AND THIS BOOK THEREFORE WOULD APPEAL TO THEM NOT ONLY FOR THE POETRY OF A COUNTRYMAN BUT AS A LEARNING TOOL TO ACQUIRE THE ENGLISH VOCABULARY AND LANGUAGE.
