This unusual book had eight patriotic poems (pages 3-18) repeated eight times making a total of 130 pages. It is not known whether it was designed this way or if it is a publisher's flaw. The table of contents lists many more poems than eight and the page numbers do not correspond with the existing poems. The pages are slightly darkened with age but clean and tight. Front hinge has a small split. The cover is cardboard covered with what appears to be leather. The leather is discolored and slightly edge worn and coming loose from the boards. The poems included are: Beat! Beat! Drums!; Rise O Days From Your Fathomless Deeps; City of Ships; A March in the Ranks Hard-prest, and the Road Unknown; Come Up From the Fields Father; A Sight in Camp in the Daybreak Gray and Dim; Year that Trembled and Reel's Beneath Me; Vigil Strange I Kept on the Field One Night.
