Riassunto: Place Names of Pohnpei Island, Including And (Ant) and Pakin Atolls is the most current and comprehensive source of information about Pohnpei’s major island and its surrounding islands and atolls. A valuable reference for travelers to Pohnpei and for anyone interested in the history of Micronesia, the book includes the following features:
· Over 1500 alphabetized place name entries include variant names and their sources; their geographical designations, kousapw and municipality; and related history and legends.
· The place names, which represent the whaling, German, Japanese, and American periods, have been compiled from sources that include newspapers, old and current maps, scholarly work, recent surveys, and interviews with residents.
· A list of terms defines commonly used generic elements that, as part of the name, designate physical features, such as bay, stream, or peak.
· Maps illustrate the political unifications and divisions that created new names.
· A bibliography provides sources for further study of the region.

And it is an attempt to present, in many of the entries, a little extra information about the places to supply added dimension. "This unique book brings together a wealth of information on the place names of Pohnpei. The book will be useful to readers interested in ancient Pohnpei lore as well as contemporary sites.
