About the Author: MARIA GABRIELA MADRID studied Education at the Metropolitan University of Caracas, Venezuela, Creative Writing and English as a Second Language at Harvard University, Boston University and Columbia University. Madrid obtained Diploma and Honorable Mention for his participation in the 17th Poetry and narrative contest of the Institute of Peruvian Culture, Florida-USA, granted by the Mayor of Florida Carlos Alvarez. In 2011, She received in Houston the recognition of "Woman Writer of the Year 2011" awarded by the representative of Mayor Anisse Parker. In 2010 she participated in a video-conference where the topic addressed was: Chicanism as a political, cultural and social movement and the Chicano Identity in Art and Literature.
