Riassunto: Sparked by the enormous political changes in South Africa since the fall of apartheid, the essays in this collection focus on the rapidly changing nature of South African mass media, art, and other forms of aesthetic expression. Blending empirical research with a wide range of perspectives and academic disciplines, many essays explore the possibility for new forms of nationality, identity, and solidarity that have blossomed during the 21st century and examine which cultural limits persist. Also included is the work of many young researchers whose ages place them in a unique position to comment on the seismic cultural shifts that have occurred since the end of the apartheid regime.
