The British scholar Harriet Martineau spent two years travelling throughout the United States before writing this 1837 commentary on American society. Owl Pen Books is a large general antiquarian bookstore in Greenwich, New York (midway between Saratoga Springs, NY and Bennington, Vermont). We stock approximately 100,000 volumes in all subject areas. Our hours are Wednesday-Sunday, 11AM - 5 PM from May 1st to November 1st. We're also open by appointment on off days. If you're interested in visiting us, please call for a map or directions; we're on a back road off a back road! If it's a nice day, bring a lunch and picnic on the lawn (Owl Pen used to be a farm and we have multiple gardens and lots of space).
