Riassunto: Here is a love story of two Asian-born Americans, Kedar Bryan and Fran Lampe. Kedar's work took them all over the Far East. Two of their three children were born in Shanghai; they moved forty-two times, three of which were evacuations.
They viewed the challenges of adjusting to different languages and cultures, finding new schools, doctors, and dentists, as a grand adventure.
Fran faced the struggle of living with her husband's alcoholism without the support available in the States. Denial and keeping up appearances was the name of the game, but finally came recovery and restoration of a love stronger than ever.
While they were living in Saigon, doctors discovered that Kedar had lung cancer. Devastating as it was, denial took over again as Fran clung to the hope that the next "miracle cure" would save his life. But it didn't happen.
Mourning, leaning into the pain, and finally finding restoration--that life is good as it is given--became Fran's journey to a new life of freedom and joy.
Everywhere, whether living in the best of circumstances or in the depth of despair, God was there. She knew His faithfulness.
