Riassunto: From inventive sail-maker to innovative yacht designer to successful America's Cup skipper, Ted Hood has had a legendary career. Also legendary was his reputation as a man of few words, making him an intriguing presence in the yachting world. Still actively engaged and sailing in his late 70s, Ted Hood here breaks his silence to tell his story in detail, from childhood sailing and boatbuilding to the secrets of Hood sailcloth; from the tactics and sail trim of America's Cup racers to the theory of the wide, shallow "delta form" of Hood yacht designs; from his influential series of sailboats named

L'autore: Author Ted Hood was known worldwide as the man who founded Hood Sailmakers, which during the 60s and 70s was the world's largest sailmaker. He was skipper of the new Sparkman & Stephens-designed Courageous, he defended the America's Cup. He remains busy working on his latest ideas from new boat designs to plans for a 1,500 slip marina. Co-author, Michael Levitt is the author of 12 books. He is the director of communications at the New York Yacht Club. He was the managing editor of Nautical Quarterly for 10 years and senior editor at what is now Sailing World magazine and contributing editor to Yachting magazine.
