A new book chronicles the wartime diaries and misadventures of Ephraim Miner, a Western Pennsylvania farmboy injured at the Battle of Fredericksburg, who spent more than 2.5 years languishing in the Army's ill-prepared healthcare and convalescent system. Suffering from survivor guilt, he achieved a sort of spiritual redemption as an old man when honored by his community as a treasured Civil War veteran.

Mark A. Miner is an award-winning entrepreneur, writer, editor, and publisher, who has had a lifelong interest in the Civil War. With a journalism degree from West Virginia University, he has built a professional career spanning nearly three decades. In 2005, he was named to the Renaissance Hall of Fame of the prestigious Public Relations Society of America for his contributions in the fields of law, engineering, and accounting. He is CEO of Mark Miner Communications, LLC, a corporate communications consultancy serving professional service firms. He is also CEO of Publishing, LLC, publisher of Well At This Time: The Civil War Diaries and Army Convalescence Saga of Farmboy Ephraim Miner, and of Forged in Steel: The Seven Time-Tested Leadership Principles Practiced by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is a regular guest lecturer at the West Virginia University College of Business and Economics, and since 2000 has been webmaster of, named by Family Tree Magazine as one of the top 10 family websites in the nation.
