1st edition, very good condition, prior owners neat bookplate on front pastdown, with a very good dust jacket, one half inch chip to lower edge of dust jacket spine, small chip to lower rear edge, minor wear to edges of dust jacket, with a priced unclipped dust jacket flap, published by Houghton Mifflin Company, Boston, 257 pages. A most interesting book about the Old and New West of New Mexico, Arizona, and specificaly Southern California. The pioneers, the Indians, the gold rush, cattle ranching,the introduction of automobiles, building of Hoover Dam, the creation of Hollywood, etc. Illustrated with the superb drawing of Charles H. Owens, the rear of the half title page has a full pape newspaper photo of Harry Carr, also the rear endpaper has two newspaper obituaries articles of Harry Carr, and there is a book week article by Lee Shippey. The title page is a signed and dated presentation to Florence Remley Etzler, whose bookplate is on the front pastdown, signed by Harry Carr and Charles H. Owens.
